Ted Neeley

A rock drummer, singer, actor, and composer who is is best known for his role in the 1973 film Jesus Christ Superstar that was based on the Rock Music Opera of the same name.

In 1969 Mr. Neeley played the lead role of Claude in both the New York and Los Angeles productions of "Hair".

In 2006, "The Ted Neeley Farewell Tour" featured Neeley as Jesus and Corey Glover (of rock band Living Colour) as Judas, took to the road in September, 2006 and is booked through 2008. This is one last chance to see a rock legend that was the foundation of many other rock musicals/ rock operas / rock anthems .

Jesus Christ Superstar was a 1973, Oscar-nominated film adaptation of the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar, about the last weeks of the life of Jesus.

The film was directed by Norman Jewison. Neeley and Carl Anderson were nominated for two 1974 Golden Globe Award for their portrayals of Jesus and Judas, respectively.

Though it attracted criticism from some religious groups, the film was generally well received.
